Find other chicken owners/lovers in your area, call the news groups tell them what's going on.

Show them articles of a similiar nature by other cities. Our paper will be running one soon.

I ran off several copies of articles to give them. I was also wondering if I should let our newspaper know. Do you think they might be up on a article like that?

Of course you can, I think you should do what we did here in Central FL and run a meeting on it..Tell the editor about it you know...Actually you know what let me see if i should contact the editor on it, if he can maybe ask someone he knows down there in Pompano to take care of the story since he might know someone fro the sunsentinel times like you said they are the same newspaper...would you like me to ask him or would you like to ask him yourself and say i reffered you to him? The problem is that the stores are both nice, but the hispanic based one honestly to say is the one that impressed me the most due to how they explained how and why people are having backyard poultry and how in places more rustic like NYC, chicago, boston, and soo many counties in california including L.A can have them...thats what opens peoples eyes up and the authorities as well...I actually told the editor how it needed more explanation on that but I am going to call him once I speak to the non profit group tomorrow to let him know what path we are going with this and allow him to know about it to write on it and This time explain WHY and the GOOD facts, etc...not just some "story"

Anyway let me know, because I would let him know if there is a way he can help you out as well.

Sure, that would be great! Especially since you've already spoken with him before. I know, LA can have chickens, why not us, right? Don't forget N.Y.C. and Chicago, to name just a few. And neither of our 2 cities are close to that big. Tell both of them, the more the better, don't you think?

I would just like to say "you are dealing with ignorant city people who have not done their homework and think that all ducks are wild animals." I would not enlighten them, it might be hazardous to your ducks. Just remember in some instances ignorance is bliss.

Tuesday, I go up against the city commissioners, they give you a whopping 3 minutes, can they spare it? I realize that they can't give you to much time, I just hope they will hear me out, and just consider my plea, thats all.

3 minutes?? you mean 1 minute..
the first 2 minute you will use waking them up..

anything longer than 3 minutes is wasted, anyhow.. their attention span is just not too long..

I love it!! Yeah, they call you up to the podium, thats when they start the clock. I was wondering why they had this hugh LCD on the podium stating 3:00?? Hubby and I didn't know then, but we have since been informed. How did yours turn out?

went to our commissioners meeting this evening. We had our 3 minutes of fame. After my hubby said the speech we wrote, the Mayor told me, "thank you for the information". I went to Staples and ran off 7 copies of the articles I copied about city chickens, etc.... We will give them a couple days, then contact them, and see what they have to say. The animal control officers have been over, one of them I like, the other is just plain arrogant. I need to keep them at bay, at least untill I get some kind of feed back from the Mayor or Commissioners. I went well prepared, with the paper work and such, gave each Commissioner and Mayor a folder (packet) with all sorts of info about chickens, the letter from the AC, a copy of the fax to both Mayor and our district Commissioner. I'm hoping for a good outcome. If it weren't for the complaining next door neighbor, none of this would have come about. Who, by the way went anyonomus (sp). Go figure.
