animal control came and said to get rid of my chickens!

Use baby shampoo. With the silkies, because they are babies, unless they are dirty, you may want to limit your bathing to their bottoms and feet.

I wouldn't take that many birds. Maybe one for you to hold and handle, another for your husband to hold and handle and both silkies. Pick which ever ones of the older birds have the best personality and are prettiest.

I think a couple would be sufficient. Chickens don't like to hold still for long sometimes. Although, a couple of mine might. I was thinking the baby shampoo too, its really just their fluffy little feet that would really need it.
I do hope that they don't want to poop to much!

Hey Barbara, I was able to get a call back from the editor today. He told me that hes going to check if he might know of anyone in Pompano that can take the story. Hes going to get back with me either later on today or tomorrow. I told him your story and he thinks it is a good idea for you to bring in the media.
What I do think you should do is just go ahead and call your local newspaper(s) and tell them the story and tell them about how someone in orlando did the same thing with the orlando sentinel and they were able to cover the story on the first page/title of the local news section(which is the second section!) in the orlando sentinel and that you want help from them to cover how your law is being unfair and unjust with the zoning and ordinances.
I think with this you will be putting on some pressure on the board of commissioners and with that they might even consider it more...Your funny neighbor might even take a look at it if he reads the paper and will realize how dumb and umodern he is acting for reporting and bothering you.

Please let me know if there is anything else you might need. Im here to help for a great cause!
Thanks again and sorry for taking soo long but this editor sure is hard to contact sometimes.

I get so tired of people who have nothing better to do than make other people miserable.

I think/hope showing the old neighbor that no one else cares, will take the fun out of his griping. Good Luck!!!

Hi Rafael:

Thanks tons! I really must do that. Other people thought it might be a good idea too. We go tonight for another Commissioners Meeting, this time I am bringing one of my 5 week old silkies I have gotten! what do you think about that? lol. Most people don't realize they are chickens? I love it, I think its hilarious!

but thats what we want, right? We want people to realize they are more than just "food" and such, they are and can be "pets" as well. I will let you know how it all goes.

Barbara

I've been following this story off and on- good luck tonight! And I dont' think anyone can argue that a silkie isn't a "pet"
