How about feeding them?
Chickens are no harder to feed than the average dog. There are pre-made feeds, which can be found in your local feed & seed or TSC store, and home-made feeds. There are recipes for home-made feeds on the internet or you can make one yourself with a bit of food know-how. Chickens need carbohydrates, fat, protein, and calcium amongst other things. Chicks need to have a different kind of feed than chickens, which is called chick feed. As a chick is younger and more vulnerable you may want to hold off on just throwing together what contains the above into a make shift feed, especially since they need different types of nutrition. Another great thing about giving your chickens treats! These are just bits of human safe food or meal worms to give them variety in their diet. But despite their need for calcium milk or other(non-yoghurt) dairy products are not good for them. That would be my entry, if I could enter.

Nifty, maybe this should be part of your brochure like you first suggested. More of a "why are they good pets" and not including usefulness, just pet status to many of us.

How much page can we get? Mostly quotes and a few small pictures.

This sounds like a great idea! Is it still in progress? Been completed? How can I get involved?

I am very interested in a document like this. I was going to make one up myself but if this one is close to being put together maybe I'll wait. Is there anything you are looking for yet to make this complete? Thanks!

This has been in the creation mode for quite a while. But it can continue. Basically we are looking for quotes and a picture to add to Nifty's brochure. It's mostly why chickens are good pets (in any way). And we're looking for a pic to go with it, showing a beloved pet picture and human picture. Space is limited, so in the end, we members will all have to discuss and decide what goes in.
