Announcing the new BYC Reputation System: Ovations

Uhhh, Ok! heehee I think!
Thanks MKK, Gargoyle and Sumi for your explanations. It's just one of those things that I'll just appreciate without trying to understand all the dynamics.

Haha!

Ya, there is a lot of backend math that makes it complicated. We wanted to keep things simple, but also give more "credit" for ovations given to different types of contributions and from different members.

For example, say you were playing basketball with your next door neighbor's 9 year old and he said, "Wow, you're really good at basketball!" Compare that to if you were playing with Michael Jordan and he said, "Wow, you're really good at basketball!" Which statement would usually carry more weight and credibility related to your actual basketball skill and talent?

In a similar way, the BYC staff or members with a lot of ovation points who give others ovations will be weighted slightly higher than those from a brand new member.

Easiest thing to remember: More ovations are better!
