Announcing the new BYC Reputation System: Ovations

Thanks BYC! Just found this thread after wondering what the ovations thingy was about. So, it's OK if the numbers in one category don't exactly equal the numbers of another? Since point values are not limited to 1 if an admin. etc. decides to rate it for more than 1 point.
What an honor and helpful tool to determine if you are on the right track or not. I kinda like the privacy of it all.

Great idea. Now that I know what the thumb is for I will be using it more often. I do have a couple of questions though. First of all is it okay to give a thumbs up to someone for replying to your post even if their reply isn't exactly helpful, but you appreciate the effort they made in trying to help. Or what about in the gallery if you really like a specific album. I'm new to raising chickens and I truly appreciate the information I receive from any one who takes the time to try and help even if it really doesn't help me at all. And while I think that everyone has beautiful birds and flocks there are some that I think are truly outstanding. I'd like to give them an ovation, or maybe you could start a star system for the pictures.

Thumbs up just to thank someone for replying isn't probably appropriate since it would dilute the value of the ovation system, but instead, simply replying to them in the thread with a "thank you for your help" would be great.

Using reputation on an album or picture you like is perfectly fine!

I guess I dilute the ovation system as I use it to reply with a offside comment or just to acknowledge an answer to a question.
I see others do the same.
