Sorry - another one. Picture of Banana. Is he Brian or Lilly. I'm hoping my gut feeling is wrong. Tilly is the mum stood behind about to charge me for taking a pic of her little one (only 1 from 6 hatched, eggs were from a local farm so decent sized eggs but "mixed")
Not sure if I've uploaded the pic right either.

5 weeks old.

Still a bit too young to tell- (also because I see no saddle feathers)... But my farthest guess is by the comb, male. Please share more pics in a few weeks/a month! Beautiful bird either way.

Thanks for the replies @The Angry Hen and @Rickba

Will keep updating pics, and keeping my fingers crossed. It's quite flighty, had boy chicks before and they had far more attitude than this one so I'm hopefull. (Hopefully clutching at straws!)

Are there pointed feathers on it's back? Usually a sign of a rooster. A pullet will have all round feathers. The comb has a little pink to it but unless the feathers are pointed I would guess female.
Sometimes I have to wait for a young chicken to either crow or lay an egg to know for sure....

Thanks for the reply, I keep trying to get close enough to look but it's mum won't let me. (2 1/2 months ago she would happily sit on my shoulder or lap for an hour but she's in "protective" mode so I'm not allowed near it). I'll have another go tomorrow or borrow a better camera!

Thanks @azygous it is washed out pink, it's adopitive mum is washed out too but she's never had a full red comb (she's two now) so there's no proper red comb in the pic. The young 'un has a bit of pink but not very much. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed...
