I confess to being vain enough to have worried about that. My hair is long enough to touch the seat of the chair I sit on and it would have taken the best part of a decade to grow back.

Looking up stapling wounds on the internet I found that they don't usually shave for wound/surgical repair anymore because it actually caused more infection instead of preventing it.

I'm glad they didn't have to shave it. I had really long hair when I was younger, and yeah, it takes years to get that long.
