so I bought two more eggs but from a different company in New Mexico. I added rice to the incubator to keep the humidity at 47% since humidity here is so high. I got a digital scale this time and they were both losing what they should have been.

I’m on day 42 and NO wiggles. When rolled, they both land in the same place but if you slightly move the egg side to side it sounds and feels so watery.

When I done the cool test yesterday one egg got cold real fast and the other stayed warm.

Can anyone tell me if they have had this happen how it’s so watery like at day 42? The both seem to lean but nothing will wiggle.

I’m afraid I have no live chicks. :(

Please only those who have dealt with emu eggs before or know some info. As you know, you can’t candle emu eggs.

Some eggs never wiggle and then hatch out okay, so there could be chicks in there.

How much did each egg weigh at the start, and how much do they each weigh now?

For the heat test, it's more about if one end of the egg stays warm rather than if the whole egg stays warm. You want to leave the egg out for about five minutes, then compare the temperature of the air cell end and the other end. If the other end stays warm while the air cell end cools down, then that means there is likely a chick in the egg. All three of my eggs with chicks in them followed this pattern. The one egg that did not have a chick in it got cool faster and was the same temperature on both ends.

The “due date” isn’t exact of course. I have no idea to test both sides for warmth other than using my hand. I don’t want to go and buy a device that I will only use a couple times.

So looking at the numbers, A is pretty much on track (basing this on a 50 day hatch period) but has lost a little less that it should have.

B has lost way too much - is that the one that got cold quickly when you tried out the heat test? Losing too much so rapidly like that is a sign of a dud.

Your hands are fine for the heat test, that's how I did mine. No need to get actual measurements of temperature or anything.

Are you whistling to them to try to get them to wiggle?

Yes i am whistling.
