Ant poison options

I know I am a little late to the conversation. I have had success with fire ant colonies by pouring boiling hot water into the mound. I usually just boil up the water, take the pan out to the mound and pour. The colony disappears. Where I have done this the ants have not returned. This did kill the grass around the mound, but it has recovered.

Unfortunately it didn’t work for me for some reason. I poured about 2 cups of boiling water over the mound wanting to get it good. I checked it next day and there were still ants crawling on it. Sometimes I think they have evolved to survive anything.

Sorry that didn't work. I pour an entire 3 qt sauce pan on each mound.
