Anxiously Waiting

12:14 and we have a baby. He needed some help because of membrane being super thick and dry. He was stuck. I helped and he opened an eye, peeped a whole bunch, and kicked his way out. Letting him rest and dry. Fingers crossed!
I know what you're going through. I watched a little chick pip for over a day. I finally got desperate and pulled most of the egg shell away. Hit some vein and there was blood everywhere. The result? He's now 3 lbs and doing fine!

Yay! I'm glad ur lil one made it! This Lil guy seems to be doing pretty good. Still breathing and peeping and moving. All good signs. He still has the tiniest bit of umbilical and yolk sac that is attached to the shell and membrane and his bottom, so definitely leaving him be! The humidity is at 65 right now, temp 101. So now I wait. I didn't get a blood vessel, thank God. I may have cried. I was so nervous helping him! But he needed it with how dry that membrane got after 26hrs

That's him right now

2:41pm... No more yolk sac, umbilical cord, or egg attached anywhere. He is moving and stretching, occasionally peeping a looking at me. Still real nappy, but he has been through a bunch.

Incubator.
Im confused too, all posts point toward an incu hatch and then i see the little dude lying on hay??????
Yes, that incubator has hay in the bottom. I was trying to help with insulation, and had been told one way was to use hay. It has a layer of paper towel over the hay as well, however, I had to wrap him/his egg in damp paper towel and in that pic I had just removed the damp so I could replace it with the dry.

Sorry about the confusion. The brooder box is set up the same way. Is that wrong to do??? Like I said, I am a total newbie at this and learning as I go. Like all learning processes some things work, some don't, and some advice is good, some isn't. Lol. But I am hoping all you can help guide me along so I can have successful hatches.

The little guy seems to be doing good. He's starting to move a lot more, still breathing, some peeps. Still seems super weak and tired, but we will see.

I think your incubator temp is too high. For home hatching, 99.5 is the usual temp. I know that commercial hatcheries do it differently so they can get one more hatch in during a year but to me, it isn't worth it.

On what day did this guy hatch, day 19? This chick might be a little premature, so to speak, due to elevated temp and shorter incubation period. Fingers crossed the little one makes it!

It's usually been around 98-99. However I did up it some to help warm the baby. I will def 100% lower it though if you think that will help. This little guy was supposed to hatch on the 14th (day 21). However he didn't pip until yesterday morning, and he had a rough hatch. I blame myself, the membrane dried real fast and I don't think my humidity was high enough. So I had to help a little. He is able to lift his head, is doing some stretching and kicking, and he did most of the breaking out of the egg himself. I just added moisture n helped zip and help where the membrane had dried to his little leg. I didn't intervein until like hour 26 after I noticed the external external pip.

Ok, sorry. Your first post said 101.5-102 temp so I was going off the initial information provided.
