over the past few days i've taken my first steps to customizing my dolls. Here's some of my progress as I go full Sid mode for the first time!
as a refresher, heres when i first got them:

I've put Frankie (green) on the backburner for now since I still don't know who to make her, but the other 2 are underway with Clawdeen (brown) taking priority. I'm going to try to make her into my bestie rise april because then I will get the most twitter clout plus the few official merch/toys there are of her are awful
Finally Draculaura (pink) I'm leaning towards turning into my oc Sam, but I could still change my mind. In these early prep stages it doesn't matter.
Step one, submerge the doll in hot water and tug off her head!! With some dolls you have to be careful to not snap the thingie inside the head since but for my cheapo dolls its not a separate piece but part of the body mold. Like I said before, the Clawdeen especially is quite cheaply made. Her arms can't rotate or swivel out, with very limited movement. Her elbows and knees don't even bend! She's stiff as a board! Nothing a little mutilation can't fix later down the line. Another thing to note is the molded on shoes and werewolf hair. The shoes should work fine just painted, but I may have to shave her depending on how her clothes will fit

Step two, cut the hair and remove the paint on the face with pure acetone. also, try not to dump it all over your hands like i did. i'm surprised my skin didn't evaporate

Step 3 is to pull the old hair out through the head socket using needle nose pliers. Clawdeen/April was a slower but easier process, while Draculaura/Sam had a lot of gunky glue in her head that I had to scrape out. YUCK.
Step 4 was to cut off Clawdeen/April's werewolf ears since April is not a werewolf. I don't think I'll need to patch them though; if I pull her new hair into a puffy ponytail it should cover the holes. I'll need to make her new ears though or she'll look weird. I'm saving the pointed ones; perhaps I can carve them to shape
