I sometimes place a clean napkin or tissue under my hand. It helps cut down on smearing.I always draw left to right because of smudging. Are you left handed or do you use something to prevent smudging?

A stick works too, like a bamboo skewer or an orchid support, I see pinstripe artists use a simple stick.i don’t know if you guys have ever heard of it, but they have these things called Hand Bridges- those work best for me!
I don't know if I'm demonstrating this well enough but you rest your hand on the stick and the stick keeps your hand off the surface.View attachment 3046003
