Any cast-iron lovers here?

Love the cast iron and also love the enameled cast iron for my chili's and stuff! The cast iron really makes all my food tastes better and I feel much safer eating from that than the non stick. All my non stick is ending up in the garbage because of the peeling and I refuse to buy anymore!

I used AB's method too. The stickiness goes away after using it for a while. I usually wipe mine out with paper towels when its still warm or scrape it and rinse it if it got really nasty. Then I dry it, put a little peanut oil in and heat it up. When its nice and warm I use paper towels to smear the oil all over it, inside and out making sure non of it puddles, and then let it cool on the stove when its cool its ready to go

I tossed a very expensive set of cookware we got after our house was gutted by a fire- thought might as well get some good stuff with the insurance money...and decided later that non-stick= the reason everyone is sick these days.

I buy anything I ever find at yard sales. If I can't use it, someone else can!!! They're always marked $2 and rusty...I laugh uproariously as I drive away with my new treasure!

Just bid on a set of 4 rusty pans for $10- my brother-in-law just discovered the ironware...I'm getting his Christmas present!

My favorite, though, is the self-basting lids on old giant Dutch ovens. I love to bake in those over a campfire!

I love my huge old cast iron skillet that I have used for decades. My husband and I have taken up dutch oven cooking and have a new 12" Lodge addition for outdoor charcoal cooking. Made some delicious meals and we are hooked!

Are there any cast iron thingy that I can make my Egg Muffin sandwich on? Its hard to make eggs that round and thick and right size for muffins.

We're going camping in about 3 weeks and I have been looking at different recipes to try using this method. I've been dying to use a dutch oven at a campsite! I was thinking of making a peach cobbler and for breakfast-biscuits! With sausage and gravy of course! lol Hey, I can't be dieting when I'm hiking and canoeing and all that, I've gotta have some real fuel! lol
