No, you probably have 2.5 yrs of puppy left. The boys always take longer than the girls to mature. Thanks, my Dobes are beautiful and have wonderful temperaments. My friend in FL breeds and shows Dobes - she has been doing so for 30+ years and she has her 8th generation of champions in the whelping box right now. I have 3 of her girls - Kory is the youngest and I hope to get one of her boys in the near future.

I too was raised with Dobe's. LOVE LOVE LOVE em!!
We bred and raised them for police work. Our male was huge, and great tepered. The female was larger than most as well.
I have a female....her name is "sissy" Here is her story......
My mother had 2 Dobes..they were getting up in years...but still looking good. I was over to her place jeesh...its been 8 yrs ago already! This man comes walking up the drive, carrying what looked like a dead pup. Her head was hanging...her tongue out...and limp. He walks up to me and says.." I noticed you have Dobes, and was wondering of you want this one? She is sick, and I can not afford to take her to the vet. If you dont take her, I will have to just lay her down and let her die" Of course I grab the pup, who was about 3 months old....from him, and run to the garage with her. Dipping my fingers in water, I was able to get her to lick a few drops. My Grandfather was there, and he said...get my checkbook, and get that dog to the vet...I dont care what it takes, save that dog." So, I take her to the vet, and they tell me...she doesnt have a chance. Her spine was completely exposed.....from what looked like burns. The flesh was rotted, and she was weak. The cut went from the base of her neck..to her tail...and was horrible looking. So the vet cleans the wound...cuts away dead flesh...and administers antibiotics...and sub fluids. Told me to tkae her home, make her comfy, so she can die in peace. YEAH RIGHT!! I was NOT going to let that happen. After a few days of TLC, she started coming around...the next few years were tough...she completely ATE a couch...ALL the stuffing from it in ONE day! Then she started on the walls...Ohhhhh biy, I was ready to take her to the pound. She is now 8 yrs old...and a wonderfull dog. She still does not like the chickens....or the pigs..but is a great companion and protector for my 3 little pomeranians. I will try to get pics of her. The wound has healed...but the scars are there for life. Her ears were not trimmed..but I love her anyways. GOTTA LOVE A DOBE!!

I love Dobermans, for me they are second only to German Shepherds. They are first, however, to my son and he recently rescued this wonderful boy, Raleigh.

My oldest son begged for a doberman when he was a little boy. I kept saying no, because I thought they were not to be trusted, mean, etc. He finally wore me down and I gave him a black and tan dobie (Shadow) for his 11th birthday. He obedience trained her and won the championship at our county fair. She was a great dog but deadly on cats. After battling cancer, we had to have her put to sleep when she was 9. I cried like a baby. My son went off to college and after graduating and getting a place of his own he got Blu. He is also a terror on cats. My son has recently moved to New York, so "Grandma" got Blu.
