Any experiences with these 50 watt ceramic heat bulbs from ebay

I'm leaning towards the black because its a third of the price and won't confuse daylight cycles...but I'm wondering how many chicks per 50watt bulb(this is for future reference as well).

I use these regularly! Love them. Great for someone like me who uses solar power and needs something low-wattage so it won't run the batteries out. It's also great because the chicks get used to sleeping in dark, so they don't make a big fuss when you finally turn it off. It's good for about 8 chicks or so, maybe 10 banties. Make sure to hang it low though, since the heat radius isn't very good.

I agree with QueenMisha about the number of birds that can be kept warm with the ceramic bulbs. I bought one but found I had too many birds and it didn't keep them warm enough. I ended up back with a red heat bulb...

Neither one will shed any light...I found they didn't project the heat very far away from 'bulb'.

Went with DIY pseudo heat plate for 'dark' warmth.
