My sister hasnt ever been up there before, so she'll be getting that one while the rest of us go in the cave!

Here is a pic of my Big Sweetie Travel Bug. She is in Ventura, in California somewhere right now.

LOL, you've got me so interested that I actually got Geocaching for Dummies from the library! I signed up on geocaching.com and have started reading and learning. I chose the name Chicken of the Earth. It seemed appropriate somehow.

Man, I killed your thread! Sorry.

So I've been reading Geocaching for Dummies (seriously!) and DH brought home his handheld GPS they use on the hovercraft. It doesn't have a computer cable so I don't think we could borrow it for geocaching, but it gave me a chance to look at one and I gotta say, I'm completely intimidated by it! I haven't spent much time with it but it is giving me serious doubts as to whether I should spend the money on one of my own.

You can do it. What kind of GPS did you borrow? We have a Magellan, not fancy, but it works great for geocaching and it's pretty simple to use. No computer cable, but it doesn't make a difference.

I got the travelbug that's been in my van forever in the mail to my sis who is going geocaching next week... poor owners, i bet they'd given it up for lost.

It's a Magellan also, can't remember the name. Pretty basic, DH said it cost less than $100. You just have to put coordinates in by hand? I think we may try to find a cache or two using it before I buy my own. Hopefully he'll be able to help me figure it out!

Never done this before but Writer got me so interested I signed up on the site and am going to read the rules and regs and make one for my area here..OF COURSE it will be BYC chicken related, lol!!!!! I'll work on that next week and take pictures too...I guess this will be a continual thread? If so, I'll post my pics. here and progress. Thanks for getting me interested..IN YET ANOTHER HOBBY!!!!!

Yes, you just enter the coordinates by hand, and I can't explain how to do it on here. Haven't even held our GPS in a year... But that's the way we do it. Good luck!

Just take your family with you, they'll get hooked too. It's a blast, and I'm excited that you've found yet another way to fill up your spare time!
