anyone ever catch a burbot (dogfish we call them here in sask) in the summer? we catch the odd one in the winter when going for perch, but every one i know only catches them in the winter, but i would love to catch one in the summer (as there great eating)
 
Yup I love burbot.
But we have a different fish we call dogfish here.
Burbot taste like lobster and is great.... But to have to cook it without freezing it first.
You cut it into chunks and boil it for 7 minutes.
Then saute it for a minute in butter and season salt.
I've also made it Buffalo style

right now we only have cooked it like cod, fish and chip style, very good meat, i would love to try the poor mans lobster method, (same goes with pike i want to boil that fish as well). but we only get one or two a year from the ice. (this last year we got none) 


We catch them out on Lake Superior... Which is a crystal clear lake. So they are yummy.
Mostly we catch them when we are fishing for Whitefish.

Dinner.... we caught these Coho.... fishing in dirty water.....Lake Superior is crystal clear water........ when rivers empty in...... the water is dirty
...... and full of food for Coho....... we fished in the cloud of river water.
