Local museum near my home is having a learning session about bamboo rods and fly tying next week. I'm going although it's been forever since I've fly fished or tied. I learned on a bamboo rod hand cut and tied by my uncle when I was just a kid. He's gone now but I still remember those nites on the stream casting caddis flies for browns.

Museum visit was very nice. found out how an octagon shaped bamboo fly rod was made, certainly not like I thought it was. Learned a little history about michigan fly fishing and the development of trout unlimited, which was started here in michigan by a local from saginaw. Not many showed but it was nice.

I tie flies, haven't had time for awhile though.
This is embarrassing I when fishing the other day and completely forgot how to cast with the fly rod.... And my 11 yr old niece had to remind me how to cast the standard rod. Thought it would be like riding a bike. Can any one refresh my memory?
