Any Gamers Here?

I’m a child of the 80s and the 90s. I used to be a hard core gamer until my early 30s. Then I just ran out of time to play. I’ve missed out on some great games in recent years. I have a tendency to hit Gamespot and buy a bunch of blockbuster games when they’re 3-4 years old and then only get around to playing a portion of them.

The best recent experience I had was Skyrim on PSVR. Skyrim was one of those games I missed out on during its original run. Wow, what an experience playing thru it in VR. When I was into it I wouldn’t tell my wife I was going to “play” Skyrim for a while, I would tell her I’m going “in to” Skyrim for a a while as if I was visiting an alternate reality for a while.

I will spend time playing retro games. I still have most of my childhood systems and games. I really like emulating them in HD.

I never got into VR as the "future of gaming". Honestly I see it a step away from me begging the husband for a 4th wall (read Fahrenheit 451 and you'll understand what I mean). And much like you I now only buy used games after theyve been left for dead. You can buy the AC games for stupid cheap now. I think I bought AC 4 for 2 bucks. Its really hard for me to justify spending 50+ dollars on a game unless it's something I'm really excited about. And to be fair WoWs graphics early on were terrible. Not as bad as Everquest but still bad. They got way better around the time I started playing but that was after Lich King. I never played first person though. Never been a fan of it. Ive played through Skyrim twice and I always play in 3rd person mode. You get to see more of the world around you and have a better perspective if you're ever attacked. Based on my play style I don't imagine I'd like VR very much. But I wouldnt be opposed to a Portal game on VR. I'd just worry Id get sick to my stomach!

It took me about an evening to get used to VR and after that, it never made me sick. One thing I like about it is that I can see clear without my glasses. The PSVR can be adjusted ever so slightly to compensate for vision problems and it holds itself well throughout a play session, so its a neat experience for me as a life-long eyeglass wearer to experience a clearer virtual world for a while with my bare eyes. Its also a nice way to watch movies.

I don’t think VR will totally replace flat screen play but I do believe it will become a normal way for many games to be played according to player preference. Especially as the headsets become smaller and lighter with better pictures and as issues of simulated touch and bodily movement become solved. When light-weight gloves allow players to reach out in the virtual world and manipulate objects with simulated tactile sensation, I think it will go a long way in taking the awkwardness out of the the experience.

One of my greatest VR joys in Skyrim is simply sitting on the side of a mountain and watching the sun set and the northern lights come out.

And Guy hid... _something_... in the ceiling (?) duct behind the grate.
That is correct. It is found by the head of the firehouse who promises to keep it "their little secret". But what I'm referring to is the depression and sunken attitude of his wife, Mildred who seeks confirmation of existance behind television walls. Whom lives in a false reality. "Its only 2 thousand dollars" which is Montags year salary. "We could do without a few things" because she wont require reality. A woman who tried to commit suicide the previous night

Hmm, I have my eye on another game. I saw someone streaming it today but it's in early access. It's called Grounded. It seems right up my alley.... And like scarier more aggressive Bugsnax.
At least I'll have Things To Do this winter while trapped indoors.

I'd like to finish my third run-through of Tales of Symphonia, and then go through The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess again.
One of these days, I'll go back and try to finish Lost in Shadow. I don't even remember how far I am in it, but I think that it's somewhere past the halfway mark.
