Any Gamers Here?

Wow! That's a shiny rig. Must have been expensive. :O Mine's just a cheap gaming lappy, not a lot of room for a desktop here. Maybe when we move.
If he built it himself which based on his previous post I would venture he did, it probably was pretty affordable. When you buy prebuilt is where you factor cost. I had a pretty nice set up I built in college but it's kaput now. I think it only cost me about 100 bucks to build it and it was tops back then. This was before dual quad cores though.

I guess it depends on what you consider "expensive" to be. It was about 1100 for all the new stuff (caveat is another 700 for a video card coming). I chose components that met my needs and were still at good "performance to budget" points. I did spend a bit more than necessary on the case, because this is a piece of desktop art and I wanted something a bit more flashy.

So if 1800 all in is expensive then yes (and I do not mean that to be dismissive or anything, We all have different views on what is expensive). In terms of custom PC's though it's fairly budget conscious. Just the parts for a full watercooling loop can run hundreds of dollars (USD), so I avoided that trap this time around. I also had not upgraded in 11 years, so I definitely got good value out of my last rig :)

I will 100% admit though, i REALLY want to build a Threadripper full water loop rig and wall mount it. My wife will kill me though if I drop 5 grand on another PC :)

Haha, yes I would hazard that for the average person that $1800 is very expensive. XD That's almost an entire months income for my house. My lappy was $750, and I stressed out HARD about us spending that much on it even though I use it every day for all sorts of things and I would have had to spend minimum $400 to replace my last one whose harddrive went kaputz with something equally useful.

Definitely not the 100 Ninja suggested. :p I'm confident at that cost it'll last you a long time, but that's a hefty price tag. I *technically* have that available to spend on something.... But I'm saving it for a cow. XD (Sincerely.)

Fair. I saved up for a couple years to do it, that's a hefty chunk of savings around here too. All of my other hobbies are as bad or worse, so I have to plan things out and have patience. it SUCKS! :)

It's a good investment when it's a big part of your life and you won't have to replace it for a long time. :) 👍
My hobbies tend toward inexpensive or free, but my partners not so much, so I don't feel too bad about the lappy. I've certainly gotten the value out of it. It's cheaper than filling my gaming hours with going out to movies or clubs or something.

Been gaming since I was a kid in the 80s. Atari 2600, NES, SNES, PS1, then switched to PC gaming even though I have an XBOX 360.

Currently been playing some WOW again, although my intro into PC gaming was Ultima Online circa 2000. I like rpgs and mmorpgs mostly, although I do like some sims like Theme Hospital, Sims 1,2, + 3, etc. I enjoyed Wildstar ( may it RiP ) and Conan Exiles. Subnautica is really good and it made me realize I do have a teensy fear of deep dark ocean water ( but I love it so much! ).

And I stopped playing Octodad because I couldn't get away from the seafood department butcher. Damn cardboard boxes keep tripping my flailing tentacles.

Edit to add- oh yeah.. forgot to mention Stardew Valley. Fun little game!

I really built it for photoshop and lightroom, because I also do a lot of photography. Just happens to be great as a gaming rig too :)

Understand completely. Of all my design programs photoshop is the biggest memory hog. With my old PC I built I could only run photoshop by itself. My newest setup is just my lappy but I can have all 3 programs open at once. My computer at work is super dope but it kinda needs to be. My only issue is it runs windows 10, but between actual work and solitare it does alright. Still on windows 7 at home and loving it. Not doing much PC gaming anymore though.

Have you picked up the sequel? I did, and played it a tiny bit when it was first getting worked on, but then stopped and promised myself I wouldn't touch it again until it was finished, because I want to be able to run through the whole story at once without already knowing a lot of it.

Love Stardew Valley! I have an emu named after one of the characters, haha.
