Any guess on the sex of these two?

I only see spurs on the large roo in the background.

It could just be sleep deprivation on my part though.

Now that you mention it... (I didn't even think to look for spurs so early), you can see the spur bump on the whhite one in the first picture and on the black one in thre last picture. If I'm not mistaken.

Looks like I'll be buying a couple more hens on Monday tham I thought. I had two roosters before, and this time I'm going to stick with one nice one.

Thanks,

Pete

Thanks for all the help.

Here in France young roosters are called coquelets, and they are one of my 95 year old mother in law's favorite meals. Looks like they'll be headed her way in a few weeks, unless I get into caponizing. In the region just north of me, the Dordogne, they are very proud of their capons. They are sold alot during the holidays and after the slaughter and picking, they are trussed up tightly in a white canvas and the long white neck feathers and head stick out of the white canvas when you see them at the markets. They are very expensive too, but great to eat.

I don't know where you all are thinking roo. This looks like two pullets close to lay that are part Leghorn or some similar breed that produces a larger comb on the girls too. The feathered shanks on the darker pullet are maybe from a feather leg breed, maybe the roo they came with is related if that is him in the first picture (the birchen colored one).
Let us know when you start seeing eggs.

And, I think they are both crossbreed girls.
