Any Home Bakers Here?

Ron, THANKS...just what I needed. I have been reading the earlier
posts and on #225 there is a EASY FRENCH BREAD recipe. I
am going to try making it and using your info. Will let you know
how it works for me Thanks again, Aria
Let us know for sure!

Just finished baking some peanut butter cookies. Not very Christmasy-looking, but we all like them anyway, and no one seems to care that they don't look very festive. All the chocolate chip cookies I made are gone already (except the dozen I saved and hid til Christmas). I'm now heading out to the kitchen to roll out my sugar cookie dough that I made a few days ago, and somehow forgot about - lol. I need to cut out, bake, and frost those, then get on with the next kind. I don't make goodies all that often (for health reasons), so when I do, they disappear like hot cakes. I have to hide a few of each kind, so on Christmas I will have a cookie tray to set out.

You know when a loaf is ready for baking when it passes the "probe" test. Poke the loaf gently with your finger, making a little indentation. If that indentation comes out completely in under one minute, it is ready for baking. If the dough is firm and the indentation stays, it is not ready.Jan 16, 2011

Thanks for the tip...I've been only testing the wheat rolls and doing it backwards :idunno. Somehow I thought they were ready to bake when the poke stays in....maybe this is different for bread vs rolls? Regardless, the rolls do well :D

Rolls are more forgiving.

Sourdough not so much!
