Very nice!
I made home made soda before. It has a tendency to blow up so I imagine it is a lot like kombucha. The soda is made with champagne yeastI like “getting back to basics” because I now know that foods aren’t as fresh (eggs. Other foods too, but those I learned from being a trucker’s wife) or old/spoilt as I thought! I’m able to have food on hand longer.
Sourdough has its uses for me beyond the taste. It makes good pancakes and pizza dough quickly.
Yogurt has its use. I eat it! By making it myself, I save money, but it also means I usually have it on hand. Of course I know what is in it too. Even adding store bought jelly is better than store yogurt.
Kombucha... I’m not sure if I will get into it. But it’s interesting! So, who knows?
I have an interest in kefir because I saw it was a substitute for buttermilk. If it’s on hand, I’ll probably use it for recipes I’ve never used because I didn’t want to “make” buttermilk or buy it.
And that is what I think of fermented foods.
Ooh! I want to look into making cheese soon!
I have soda couple of times a month. I do not buy it for the house but will have it with a burger and fries from in and outWe made soda when I was young. It’s not something I need now.
I envy people that can simply cut out soda to lose weight. I don’t drink soda more than maybe three times in a year. Of course, I can drink a gallon of milk a day.![]()
