Any Home Bakers Here?

I just remembered the last jar of blueberry syrup in the cabinet. I might need to make pancakes tomorrow.

I grew as farm folks we traded all the time how do you think we got 250 to 350 birds all processed over two days if you wanted your share you had to work the women did
the birds men brought the hay in

GG had so much to do.
Makes me feel nit-picky when I complain about something I have to get done.
She raised 6 children, 5 boys & 1 girl.
She would tell me how she would go out into the chicken-yard, pick a bird, process it herself, bring it in to burn the feathers off.., then get it prepared for however she was going to cook it for that meal. (Roast/fry)
They had a dairy farm, grew their own feed for the animals (fields), they had horses/ mules, raised hogs, chickens, some beef of course , bees , had an enormous garden & orchard, including all types of berries & grapes.
The family also bred Beagles, not for show..for hunting.
I do realize the incredible work load, but at the same time I am in awe of the opportunities/knowledge/Foundation living that way gives to a person.
GG, along with my Great Aunts have been an example for me personally to live from.
We are all in this, why not lend a hand. You may need one in return one day.

My Ma worked all day she was a bookkeeper made good money, Dad was a Mailman worked 4 days of 6 so had rotating days off at time was always home when we got home from school he and I did chores chores before and after school

My Dad talks of his mom making meals and keeping house for 13 kids, total. She made 3 loaves of bread every day in her wood fired stove. Dessert with supper every day- cakes, bars, pies, but cookies were not for dessert.
