The only difference in how I do it, is I dust the rings in flour before dipping them in batter. I've never frozen them, but will certainly try that next.

Mine are still in the freezer this is my own idea let you know how it work may try a few dipping in flour alone on a few others not

So key is to not make the batter thin keep it rather thick but used my half and half to make it have like 4 walla walla sweet onions sliced living in a gallon bag in the freezer
just for onion rings made at least 20 25 all gone no leftovers
