Wow, nice place to work for.

It's awesome of you to gift her your time and some delicious desserts to share with guests for the event NFC. I can't say I'm surprised :love

What's a hummingbird cake?

Hummingbird cake is a delicious old southern recipe and it's awesome :drool

Here's a link to the recipe if you want to take a look IM:Post #8233 of 20970

I'd love to see a picture of the treats you've made!

As for the retirement goodies, I'm making a Texas sheet cake, a Hummingbird cake, the blueberry lemon cheesecake bars and cookies (probably peanut butter with chocolate chips). Part of what makes this event tricky is that the company is making her pay for the reception out of her own pocket so I'm trying to keep costs down. I'm 'donating' the desserts and my time so the only thing she'll have to pay for is the smoked meats.
Thats nice of you to do that Debby!

This lady is special, not just to me, but to so many people. Her job (she worked for the same company as DH & I do) got her involved in creating programs for the community, supporting the Boys & Girls Clubs, hosting a community Christmas party, all that sort of thing.

The same budget cuts that hit our golf course, are responsible for eliminating her job so it was sort of a 'forced' retirement. If she wants to have a retirement reception at the golf course, by god, we're going to see she gets one.
