I am enjoying the review. My Ron's starter is alive and well...working GREAT. You and Mom...Jared....will have a great
new baking adventure. I did. ..and my Sourdough Starter is used
very often and it's healthy for us. Aria

I have actually given 4 folks here in town sourdough since but here is is my goulash from dinner there was hamburger helper spice packet chilie mac used 1 lb italian sausage 3/4 lb burger shells from Costco

We were without power for 5 hours late yesterday so I'll post the coconut cake recipe later today...sorry for the delay Aria!

Well, I actually have not started that yet. Main reason was there was a family emergency yesterday and my mother had to go to the doctor. She's suffering from severe tendonitis. I was really busy cleaning the kitchen, making sure she didn't have to work that much, taking care of her, that kind of stuff. I didn't have a chance to start it yesterday because of that.

I actually did have a question. Does the jar need to have a lid? And if so, does the lid need a hole or something?

@penny1960, I thought I needed to wait two weeks for it to establish. Did I misunderstand?

@jnicholes You can use the starter now, but you will need to add yeast to get a good rise. You will get a mild sourdough taste to the bread right now, but without adding yeast it won't rise much and will be heavy and dense. In about 2 weeks, your starter will be active enough to not need added yeast to rise your bread.
