We're trying a sweet potato pie this year as well. Breaking all traditions and having chicken instead of turkey and an orange salad.

I've never tried sweet potato pie before, have always had pumpkin. I've heard that SPP is very good, though. I'm currently trying to get my T-day menu completed, but debating between traditional pumpkin pie or pumpkin cheesecake. It is a VERY hard decision, so I was considering making one of each. Like we really need double the calories - lol.

This is the sweet potato pie recipe I'm going to test out.

I'm going to add a little ground clove to the spice mix. Also, I'm thinking of switching out the regular milk for evaporated milk (that's what I use for pumpkin pie filling).

Allrecipes has about a jillion sweet potato pie recipes, I kind of picked this one at random.

We like regular pumpkin ok, but am hoping the sweet potato has a bit more flavor.

It's fun to switch up holiday menu items sometimes!

Make both the pumpkin pie and the pumpkin cheesecake, then freeze the leftovers for another day. They both freeze very well, adn you will have desserts to share with unexpected company.

Wow bought smallish turkey it is in freezer ham will be one as turkey day then ham the new years of x mas too much to think of today rain suppose to be gone by noon

Yep! I'm going to make my first homemade pumpkin pie. I always got ours at Costco. Have never been a pie maker, but no better time to start than now. Especially if I'm going traditional with the dinner. Have to have at least one experiment.
