Any Home Bakers Here?

Yep! :highfive: I'm going to make my first homemade pumpkin pie. I always got ours at Costco. Have never been a pie maker, but no better time to start than now. Especially if I'm going traditional with the dinner. Have to have at least one experiment. :gig

Exactly right...who better to practice on than family! :lau

Pumpkin (and I think sweet potato) are pretty easy. A single shell, dump the filling ingredients in the mixer, put it in the shell and bake. Easy peasy...you can do it!

And don't forget the homemade whipping cream!

This is the sweet potato pie recipe I'm going to test out.

I'm going to add a little ground clove to the spice mix. Also, I'm thinking of switching out the regular milk for evaporated milk (that's what I use for pumpkin pie filling).

Allrecipes has about a jillion sweet potato pie recipes, I kind of picked this one at random.

We like regular pumpkin ok, but am hoping the sweet potato has a bit more flavor.

It's fun to switch up holiday menu items sometimes!

I'm trying one from Taste of Home that uses evaporated milk. I'm going to add some nutmeg and maybe cloves.

I read in comments on a recipe that baking the potatoes until carmelized and then refrigerate over night for better flavor :idunno

Caramizing the potatoes makes perfect sense. :highfive:

How much sugar does your recipe call for IM? The one I'm looking at calls for 1 cup, but some of the sp recipes called for 2 (which seems like a lot).

Go to your Bed Bath and Beyond this weekend!
