Still working on getting that bulgogi recipe. It's not written down. In my mom's head.
My method for recovering unwritten recipes is to make the recipe with the person that has the memorized recipe and take notes throughout. Depending on the recipe, pictures can also be helpful. I find that making the recipe works better than having them recite the recipe.

....and then go over the recipe with them to see what they forgot during the session...and what secret ingredient they purposefully kept out!

One thing that was never included in any of my mother's recipes that had raisins in them was that she would put the raisins in a saucepan with water and bring the water up to a boil. She would then allow the raisins to cool and drain off the water before adding them to the recipe. It plumps the raisins very nicely and changes their flavor since much of the raisin flavor is absorbed by the water. For years I wondered why my tomato soup cake did not taste like hers. Now I know.

We do the same thing with prunes that go into our prune cake recipe
