Anyone have a good whole wheat bread recipe
in the import section at publix you can get brown sauce. I kind of like it. A1-ish, but not.Not having anything to do with baking or babies...does anyone have a good bbq sauce recipe? DH has one absolute food rule and that is "no sweet on meat". That makes it tough to find a good sauce recipe without a lot of sugar in it. I was kind of thinking a mustard base sauce might be good but would prefer to use a recipe for it that someone else has tried.
Anyone have a good mustard based bbq sauce recipe? @BBQJOE what about you? With your name I would think you at least would have one.
Lets try this.
Place a cup or so of ketchup in a sauce pan. A shot or two of whoorschterchestershire sauce, a table spoon or so of some soy sauce, a couple teaspoons paprika, a teaspoon of some cayenne, a teaspoon of cumin, a few shakes of some black pepper, another few shakes of some salt. A tablespoon or so of some sort of vinegar, and a tablespoon of some chilli powder.
Heat on low, and let it cook down to desired consistancy, stirring often.
I'm late to the party with this, I don't have a good BBQ sauce recipe, but I have a good BBQ seasoning recipe! My daycare kids made it and put it into spice jars as Father's Day gifts this year and my dad liked it so much that I had to make him more. He mixed it with brown sugar to make a dry rub and I'm sure it would also be good mixed with ketchup for a BBQ sauce. Here is the recipe if anyone is interested.
BBQ Seasoning
1/2Tbs dried basil
1Tbs garlic powder
1/2Tbs dried parsley
1/2tsp celery salt
1tsp chili powder
1Tbs garlic salt
2Tbs paprika
1/2Tbs pepper
1/4 cup salt
1/2Tbs cumin
Mix together and put in spice jar. I have used to to season meatloaf, burgers and chicken. My dad, as I already said, mixed it with brown sugar for a dry rub. Just thought I would share! Also, kids love putting the ingredients together, so it's a fun DIY gift for anyone who likes to BBQ!
Is anyone else started to get overwhelmed with Thanksgiving? Apparently my husband and son have been planning the "thanksgiving feast" and I was writing down what the dinner menu was this morning and I got some surprise add ins. This is the menu and I refuse to let them add in more!
2chickens (I hate turkey... I went over this last year on the thread)![]()
Yams, applesauce, carrots, mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, peas, corn on the cob, challah bread, chocolate khulua cheesecake, pumpkin pie and whipped cream. I figure the cheesecake, bread and pumpkin pie I'll cook the day before. I might cook the pumpkin tuesday, so Wednesday I just have to make the pie. Everything else I think we have to do that day and the whipped cream we will do just before we eat so my son isn't too tempted to sneak some! Lol. We are only going to have 6-8 people, so I'm guessing there will be leftovers! I work Wednesday, so figure I can just make the cheesecake, pumpkin pie and bread during the day and clean while the kids nap. I might do some wheat bread for the kids to bring home too because they all love when we make bread!
Ding ding ding! We have a winner!
That's some good stuff there Joe, I think DH will be very pleased. I like it a lot, very flavorful, enough heat to make it interesting, not sugary.
I did toss in a bit of granulated garlic per your PM. I also used smoked paprika (not the sweet paprika) and instead of plain salt, I used some smoked salt I have on hand.
This will be perfect on our pork sandwiches tonight. The seeded buns rising now and the pork was cooked yesterday, cole slaw done too. It's going to be a great dinner!
Thank you BBQJoe![]()
