I may be lazy, but if I'm going to brown meat before putting in the crockpot, I might as well cook it in my cast iron dutch oven. I like dump and go recipes for my crockpot
Browning adds the flavor from the brown bits. there is a fancy french name for that maillard reaction.

The instant pot can saute, slow cook and then use saute to thicken with flour or corn starch at the end all in one pot. It is a pressure cooker, rice cooker and one of the best crock pots I have used. and it replaces l three of those.

DH gave me an instant pot one year. But I'm a simple gal, it has too many buttons and functions for me :p

All I use is soup stew, rice, saute and slow cook.

I set the times myself which is pretty much what most of the pressure cooking buttons do and that is for soup stew. Toss eggs in, push soup stew for 6 minutes, release pressure, put egg into ice water to cool and then peel. Add a minute or two for bigger eggs.

put in a chicken, press soup\stew and then 80 minutes, when time is up, release pressure and have something like bone broth.

I've been really enjoying my crock pot lately. It had been shoved to the back of a cabinet for a long time, but with some new recipes for it, it's now getting used again. It's great to put everything in it in the morning and have dinner ready later. And it doesn't heat the house up!
That is what I like about it. I use it for my Venison Stew....I do NOT like
Venison...but in the Crock Pot....I do like it. Long cooking and the right spices makes it good. Aria

Where do you get your venison Aria? I've never had it in a stew, but I bet it is good.
My husband goes hunting and his friend (who really knows how) butchers it. He wraps and labels and prepares the Deer for us. He labels all the meat....but we just like Venison Stew. If it is marked steak...STEW.
That is the only way we like Venison. And I have a recipe with cumin and other spices and we all enjoy the Venison Stew. Aria

venison roast prepared well is also delicious--season with salt/pepper and wrap in bacon strips. Place on rack in roaster add potatoes/carrots/onions/celery around and put in oven
