I bake a lot of SD. Here is a SD Honey oat. It took me a long time to figure out how important good shaping skills are.

Just found some interesting evidence that suggests one of the recipes I posted may have come from The Great Depression.

My grandmothers goulash recipe, which I did post a long time ago, is the suspect. I talked to my grandmother today, and she was born in 1945. She said her stepmother gave her this goulash recipe that I now have.

If her stepmother gave her the recipe, her stepmother MAY have been alive during the depression, which MIGHT make this a Depression era recipe.

Just a thought, but I’ll do more research and attempt to figure it out.

Gonna put bread making aside and replenish my pastas today. Used the last of the tagliatelle earlier in the week, and just have one more pack of ravioli in the freezer. I had a lot of extra filling left over from last time I made them and I‘ve already got that out of the freezer thawing. I figure if I get some spaghetti, some tagliatell, some ravioli, and some pappardelle in the freezer, we’ll be set for awhile again.

Does anyone here use a stand mixer to make pasta? I know people do it, but I never have. I use my long rolling pin and the pasta board Ken bought me to mix, knead, roll, and cut because I enjoy the whole process, but it’s getting harder on my mid-back. When I’m in a hurry I have used the attachments for sheeting and cutting, but never used it from start to finish. I’m thinking of trying it today. Anything I should know first?

When I make pasta I use my Pasta Machine.

I figured that the pb sd dog treats went well, so I’d make him some plain sd treats. I got the dough ready, half cup this time, and let it rest. Well… then I thought about cinnamon twists. I started to shake on the cinnamon sugar, and… In my defense, I have been thinking about an apple dessert pizza for at least a week. The dog didn’t complain about the change, so it’s all good. :thumbsup

I like making pasta still cannot find my cavatelli maker it has run away somewhere
Just use your fingers and a fork until your cavatelli maker gets jealous and shows itself!:lau

I don’t even have one…but I have butter paddles that work great. they look like gnocchi makers. Katie and I usually just roll the strands, I cut and she runs them over her paddle. When I get too far ahead of her, I stop, cover the dough, and grab the other paddle. She’s gotten pretty good at the roll and flip technique!
