So ... here's what I did today ....

Using "Frodo," the SDS I got from my pastor's daughter, I made two loaves of white bread. They are in bowls in the refrigerator for the night and will be baked tomorrow. I am very pleased with them! The starter is very strong and active and is also in the fridge. In fact I have two batches, one is going to be whole wheat and I will compare the two as time goes by. I'm naming that one "Ruthie" after a dear friend. (Frodo because of all the adventures we're going to have!)

You are just making me more hungry.

I probably should. But for right now after two decent sized burgers, potato salad, macaroni salad, and coleslaw, I should be fine for another couple hours.
I hope your sourdough bread comes out. I love sourdough and haven't had it in ages.
Thank you. Success or failure, I'll post here tomorrow!

You're welcome.
Don't feel too bad if you mess it up. I have done that numerous times.
Not at all. Since it's my first attempt, I consider it a learning experience. If I get good bread out of the deal, that's a bonus! I've made good yeast bread for donkey's years and used to sell it to neighbors. This'll be fun.

I use a breadmaker to mix the dough for my breads, but one of the recipes I shape the bread myself and rise it myself. I have been making it since I was around nine.

I made tomato jam today. A friend needed to offload some cherry tomatoes. :)

I added cayenne pepper to this batch for a bit of a kick.

Recipe
2 lbs ripe cherry tomatoes, cut in half.
3/4 C. of brown sugar
1/4 C. vinegar
1 TBS ground ginger
1 TSP salt
1/2 TSP ground cumin
1/2 TSP Crushed red pepper OR 1/4 TSP Cayenne pepper
1/2 TSP Garlic powder

Add all ingredients to medium sized pot and bring to a easy boil, mash the tomato halves as the mixture is cooking. reduce heat to medium low and cook for 90 minutes stirring occasionally to prevent burning.
I love tomato jam on burgers, or toast with a fried egg.
Thanks for the recipe!
