The cheesecake is a little over cooked on the edges

Usually I cook it for the shortest amount of time called for and that's perfect. For whatever reason it cooked faster this time. Maybe my oven is running warmer? But cheesecake is forgiving and the middle is fine. I'm sure it will still taste great. My son is having a hard time waiting for tomorrow. I had to hid it in back of the fridge yesterday as soon as it cooled!

Allice28, how was the birthday (and the cheesecake)?

Has anyone here made filled cupcakes before? I've never tried it but was curious about making them. From what I saw doing a search online, there are various fillings and ways of getting the filling in the cupcake but I couldn't find one that looked like a Hostess Cupcake (which is what I wanted to try). Anyone have a recipe for something like that? Or maybe a chocolate cupcake with peanut butter filling. Those sounds like fun to try. Share a recipe if you've done one, ok?

The cheesecake turned out yummy. The edges were over cooked, but not too bad. It was VERY strong. I may have a problem when it comes to adding the kahlua

. Lol. Super yummy!

I bet your cheesecake was delicious. Maybe instead of putting all the Kahlua in the cheesecake, you're supposed to drink some while it's baking...sort of a reward for all that work you know.

Lol! That's one idea. I'm not a big drinker. Half a beer gets me pretty buzzed, so if I did that I might end up with an interesting cheesecake! Lol! But I'd probably be very happy baking!

Yesterday I took a few different versions of homemade flock block, and working with the ingredients I have at home, made some up. No pictures to show because the girls ate it all...I'd say they liked it just fine, lol. Thought I'd share the way I did it...

2 Cups cracked corn
1 Cup layer feed
1 Cup oatmeal, uncooked
1/2 Cup raisins
1/4 Cup flour
1/4 Cup wheat germ
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp cayenne pepper
4 eggs, plus shells (ground)
1/2 Cup molasses

Preheated the oven to 325 degrees.
Mixed everything together (was able to squeeze it & have it keep it's shape, didn't want it soupy)
Greased 4 of the 7" disposable cake pans
Pressed mixture into the pans
Used the handle of a wooden spoon to poke a hole in the middle of the mixture (about 1/2" diameter)
Baked for about 30 minutes, until edges browned
Cooled overnight
Took out of pans and threaded garden twine through holes & hung up in run

The next time I do this, I'm going to just make 2 of the 7" cake pans as mine were kind of thin (only about 1/2" thick). If the blocks were thicker, I think it would take them longer to eat.

What's everyone else been up to...still recuperating from the holidays?

I haven't been up to much. Just working and family stuff. I think I'm going to bake some chocolate chip cookies with my son tonight or tomorrow. Ohh or maybe oatmeal chocolate chip! Yum!

Hi Alice28, guess we're on the same baking schedule...I'm baking cookies today too. It's our wedding anniversary so I'm making DH's favorite (peanut butter cookie with a mini peanut butter cup pressed into the top).
