Any Home Bakers Here?

Had my family here for 2 weeks, and now am making „rounds“ , first my 89 year old parents in law , then I went to the hospital, will get my first hip replaced on the last day of August, will probably be out of commission for a few days 😥 , right now I am visiting my 81 year old aunt and on the weekend I’ll be visiting my cousin on her 50. birthday, and then it’s back home, getting everything ready for 4 weeks of absence 😬 6 days hospital and 3 weeks of rehabilitation

The total hip is one of the easiest total joints to have done.

You may find that you may get home in less than 3 weeks.

Good luck!!

My experience is that butter freezes well. I only buy it when it is on sale and store it in the freezer. It would take at least several years for a butter shortage to affect me.

Fall baking season usually sees sales on baking components including flour and butter.

I do the same thing and a shortage would not affect me either.

Thing is, they didn’t warn me about the butter prices rising, I also freeze butter, so the next time I tried to buy some, I was like; „OMG, what happened ?!“ 😮

Went camping last night. I actually had a question for all of you.

Anyone got any good campfire recipes? I’m just curious.

Also found this growing at the campsite.

Thanks, Ron, will do ... next time! Tonight I did add a little flour and also let the KA knead it about 10 min ( just as an experiment) to turn it into more of a cohesive dough. It's in the fridge for overnight and we'll see how it turns out in the morning. Oh, and it's about 1/3 whole wheat, also. I think I may bake it in my old Dutch oven, too. Just for grins. ...oh, and hey! I ordered and got my very own lame. And wow, that blade is way different from a regular razor blade! It is SOOO THIN! Really gives the sharp cuts. It was well worth the $4 from Amazon. Every serious bread baker should have one. But be careful, it is SHARP!
You do have the baking bug for sure!

:hugs Aww, L8, sorry about your doggie! I had my Gracie (Sheltie) put down just a few weeks ago ... it's hard, even when you know it's the best choice for our dear old friends. We just love them so much.
I am sorry I still mourn for loss.

I have as new york cheese cake in the oven. 325 40 minutes.
I googled the why for sour cream.
The firstcheese cake” may have been created on the Greek island of Samos.
Cream cheese was invented in 1872 by American dairyman William Lawrence of Chester, New York.

Are you cooking in a skillet, or hanging a pot over the fire? With a pot, basically any soup or stew type of recipe with work.

Don't expect the outside of the pan to ever be clean again. That sooty stuff never comes off. The pans we used for cooking over a campfire were relegated to that use forever.
