Any Home Bakers Here?

If it is often, and especially if it is often in the winter when you can actually freeze to death, it might be worth getting some battery backup or a generator.

I can hear your wallet screaming way over here!

Do you start off with "Be vewy, vewy quiet, I'm hunting wabbits"?
Ugh yea it hadn't been done since '87 🙄

You know either @ronott1 or I will be happy to send you dehydrated starter free of charge, you have only to ask in a pm.
Thank you for the offer! I may just take you up on that, especially if I can't get my starter going well.

I'd rather get my starter to work and do its thing, so I'll give it some more time. I almost feel like I'm cheating if I begin with someone else's starter, lol.

Guess what Santa the Easter bunny
someone who loves my baking got me?

I can get that it took me twice to get a starter to take and this is what I have now so believe me it's rewarding in the end!

Just to put your mind at ease,,, and your conscience free of guilt. :hugs

I researched some time ago the wild yeasts. There are over 120 different varieties/strains known, and saved . My numbers may be off some,, but you get the idea. Also, not all strains are ideal for sourdough starter making.
The starter from a great active source is one that has a desirable action going.
Your home version is dependent on the wild yeasts flying around in your area,,, and where your grain/flour came from.
