Any Home Bakers Here?

I would love to have your problems, leftovers!!! I think I don’t have them since the boys were teenagers! I now only have 2 males to “feed” ( and me, of course) but they eat just as much as 6 people ( i really cook 6 portion recipes) and on the weekend the girls turn up, and they can eat a lot too, and don’t get me started when we get visitors 😅
I'm still finding it difficult to cook for only two! 😆 Enjoy your crowded life, it gets really quiet around here!

Huh. It exploded before I could use it.
Jared... this is why you're supposed to discard some before every feeding. Use the "discard" to make pancakes, waffles, biscuits, pizza crusts or something.

Come over here and cook for me! I would LOVE to have "too many" leftovers. :)
Lol, send plane ticket! Oh ... I never said I was a GOOD cook, just that I seem to cook a LOT!

Thank you for the offer! I may just take you up on that, especially if I can't get my starter going well.

I'd rather get my starter to work and do its thing, so I'll give it some more time. I almost feel like I'm cheating if I begin with someone else's starter, lol.
Suit yourself. But If I asked the thread here for everyone who is baking using @ronott1's starter to raise their hand, 🤚, there'd be at least a couple pages of palms waving! He sent me some, but I managed to kill it, so then I got a new start from my pastor's daughter bc I was embarrassed to ask Ron again.

@ronott1, my best loaf yet! Humidity so high here that for 380g water I had to use 610g bread flour. On removing from oven, I brushed with melted butter, then covered with a thin white kitchen towel while it cooled, to give me a soft crust to make it easier to cut (arthritis in hands). I cut it in half, then placed cut side down on cutting board to slice. Much easier! Thank you for all your patient tutelage! :hugs❤️

I did discard.
Oh. Wow! I only keep about half a cup as my "keeper." How much do you keep?

I guess sometimes I keep a little more, if I know I'm going to need it in a recipe. For example, my whole wheat pizza recipe calls for a full cup of discard, so I keep that one a little more full. But my bread recipe only calls for a Tbsp to make one two-lb. loaf, so I don't keep very much going of that one.
