I think cross contamination...I saw the tail end of that. I have a 10 lb bag sitting in my cupboard and wondering if I should throw it.
check the link that sunflower posted or call the company. E Coli comes from feces, usually from cattle, but if a person has it and didn't wash their hands after using the bathroom, then contamination

That's weird, so did a quick google: There's a recall on some of the Gold Medal flours for E Coli contamination - maybe they are checking lot numbers?

Here's the link:

Wonder how flour can get E Coli?

Flour comes from wheat berries--the plant can be contaminated from the field it is in and then carried to the grinding mill. Once the equipment is contaminated, then all of the flour ground in that grinder will be contaminated. The bacteria will keep growing inside of the grinder.

A good guess is that the grain came from China.

Ok yeah that's gross topic to come in on how has everyone been and I can't wait to try some of the new recipes posted things are finally settling down with the kids.

We got a letter this weekend about contaminated B vitamins. It was from Costco--luckily we were not in the range of contaminated lots for the vitamins.

This stuff is one of the reasons that I try to be as self sufficient as possible.

I understand that completely we saving up as much as possible to hopefully move soon. We found some property we looking at we qualify for a loan but 130,000 dollar debt doesn't sound as good as we bought it with cash lol. It takes us about three years to come up with enough to buy about five acres so we hoping for that.

I checked the link and mine doesn't match but I contacted them anyway by email as the top of my bag has a dry paste on it...I didn't notice it until I got home and the store was 2 hours plus from us so didn't return it. It looks like it had gotten wet.

Hi ya'll. I bake...a lot...However, I just received a request to bake completely vegan cookies.... you know without eggs, milk or butter! As far as I believe, eggs, milk and butter are considered the golden ingredients in cooking - no substitutes what-so-ever.  Can anyone out there help me out with a tried and true 100% vegan cookie recipe??!!??  :fl

Butter isn't too hard, I use Nutlex which is a butter substitute. It's softer, more like margarine but works for most things, biscuits (or cookies) may come out a little softer than with butter. There would be a dairy free equivelant in your dairy section.

Milk I use almond and cashew nut milk. I find it better than just straight almond milk you should find it with the long life milks. I cook everything using it with no problems.

Eggs.....no idea sorry!

There is a recipe called "Crazy Cake or Wacky Cake". It is a depression era cake recipe you can find almost anywhere (pinterest, recipe sites). It uses no eggs, milk or butter. My grandmother used to take this recipe and place little dobs of it in the bottom of a muffin tin and pop them out like cookies. She also poured it thin over a cookie sheet and cut it into thin bars. She cooked it a tiny bit longer so it would crisp the edges. These are the best "cookies" ever and you can make them in a ton of flavors, though the original recipe is for a chocolate cake. Hope that helps :)

I made some blueberry sourdough muffins again today. I only had cake flour so I used that. I wonder if I can feed my starter with cake flour?
