Any Home Bakers Here?

@Aria

I have lost one starter to ignoring it, the last one I let go after keeping it for years because I knew I wasn't going to use it for a very long time....and just reordered mine to get it going again.

Honestly you can keep one alive if kept in fridge - even if you forget it for weeks. It is very little trouble though to discard and feed once a week or so and pop it in the fridge. I don't think anything will give the flavor of real starter.

Except - Kingarthur flour sells a dried type - quite pricey - for one time use.

I have lost starter in the past too. I always keep some dried starter in my freezer. I have reconstituted some of the dried frozen starter and started all over.

mine may not be fed for a couple weeks I take it out of the fridge stir it real good pulling 1/2 cup out then add the warm water and flour stir like heck again I also have it a gallon canister so I may shake it also

I hate to discard starter so I usually make a big plate of pancakes. When we want some pancakes, just pop them in the microwave for a few seconds to heat them up. They freeze good too. Made some sourdough banana bread a couple of days ago.

Nope. If anyone wants dessert, they'll have to beg NFC for some of that coconut cream pie!

If you want some, you better hurry! It's going fast, lol.

Trying to find more ways to use the bread I make, so I have been making pizzas with the bread. Great snacks for watching your favorite sports shows (football, racing, etc.). You can put any topping on them.
