Any Home Bakers Here?

This is one of the friendliest threads IMO

Baking interest brought us here, but the fellowship keeps us here.

You're right! Something about baking, cooking and kitchens just brings friends together! (Even if you didn't like my bacon wrapped livers, LOL

I always look forward to seeing new posts on this thread.

I used to not like nuts, salads, seafood, steak, et al…but love them now.

But really love pies, cakes, cookies

I baked the boxed lemon squares today. It's rather tasty, but somewhat caramelized around the edges and compared to those I have eaten in the past IMO I cooked it a little too long. I baked it in a glass pyrex square baking dish - recipe said not to change temp regardless of the pan, but I think I should have baked at 325 instead of the recommended 350.

Next time will try it from scratch.

Hey @sunflour , that no-bake Yum Yum recipe of Miss Lydia's was pretty tasty for a lemon (or lime) treat. And easy to make too. An idea for next time maybe.

Yesterday I baked the lemon bars from the recipe that was posted here a couple of weeks ago. They were very good! I did not have enough powdered sugar, so I made my own by using a kitchenaid spice grinder. A cup of powdered sugar is one cup of granulated sugar ground with a teaspoon of corn starch. It worked!

Today I am baking San Francisco sourdough bread. It will go into the oven soon.

Good thinking on the powdered sugar substitute @ronott1 ! What does the corn starch do for it, just curious why just ground granulated wouldn't be the same.

Your bread sounds fantastic!

The corn starch keeps the powdered sugar from sticking.

For this recipe, I think leaving the corn starch out would have been fine.

The bread is out and I am about ready to cut a slice.

My DH has gotten on a Cool Whip Fling, he loves it, ate some of my mix Lemon bars with Cool whip ( have powdered sugar but didn't use it ) and it was great with the cool whip..IMO I liked the cool whip better than the powdered sugar on it. Just not as pretty.

I wonder how it would taste with costco vanilla ice cream?
