Yeah I told my husband we could get meat birds this spring, I will take care of them and even figure out how to process them (my mom told me she would help, she at least has experience) But he was in charge of killing them.

I will be processing three(Pita Pinta cockerels) this weekend and then two a couple of weeks after that.

I process in bits all year long--gotta do something with the cockerels!

That is where I would like to get someday. Right now I do not have the knowledge or courage to hatch my own and eat the boys, still buy from a hatchery. But as my experience increases, and thing 1 and 2 get older and more help then hindrance, I would love to get to that point.

Looks like we are all getting ready for thanksgiving! My son is really excited. He keeps saying he wants to stay home with me and not go to school and I keep telling him next week he stays home all week. My dad called to tell me he is bringing down a ham. His work gives their employees a turkey or a ham around the holidays. So know every time I talk to him, he tells me "I'm bringing a ham and it's a Carlton ham! It's a really good ham! "

. There is a little town named Carlton outside of where he lives and Carlton meat company is always really good, now I just have to figure out how to cook it. He just tells me I have to look it up, but the size of the ham would be helpful.
