Any Home Bakers Here?

me and my wife have been going through the freezers....making tons of soups lately....having a good meal...then canning the rest for later
great idea for a quick & convenient meal later.

Looks to me like you did well for your first try! At least they raised...my first ones didn't

Thanks!

Hey NFC....glad to hear your thinking about KC.s....I love mine....

I got to thinking since eggs are my priority, KC's made sense. And the duck people recommended a lighter duck breed because of our heat & humidity so they fit that. For the other breed, first I wanted Runners but was concerned they would be too much for a newbie like me to handle so I decided Blue Swedish. The duck folks suggested I do Runners because they are another lighter breed (and they were my 1st choice anyway). Think I'll get 3 of each, hens only, and see how we get along. Really excited about getting them!

I saw your KC pictures on another thread...they are so pretty!

Okay I got a question......it's just me and my wife....you have to buy a eight pack of hot dog buns....we usually only use three or four and the rest go to waste....is there a good way to freeze them....you would think they would sell more stuff geared toward couples....like a four pack....geez....Phil

We just toss them in a freezer bag and then use them in a week or so. We're in the same boat with just 2 of us. Our favorite hot dogs come in a 7 pack and the buns are in an 8 pack.

Sometimes I just give the extra odd bun to the chickens as a treat. Or make sandwiches or bread crumbs.

The call ducks are cute.

right, eggs. Practicality. got ya.
When you get them, be sure to take a lot of pictures. baby ducks are the cutest thing ever,
There will definitely be pictures! You guys are all going to beg me to stop sharing their pictures. But they grow so fast, I want to document their babyhood.

My husband loves ducks he had them as a kid. Lol his grandma doesnt care for them because they took a liking to eating her plant/flowers. I am debating about getting them your going to have to tell me how it goes.

They'll be new to me, I've only had chickens. For a while, I thought about getting a few more chickens in the spring but decided why not try something different. After reading about ducks, they seemed like the best new thing to try for us. And I can't wait to get some duck eggs, I've never eaten one.

I'll keep you all informed on how they do!

Lol good cause if they go well for you i might surprise him with a few ducks for his birthday in july. He had a goose named Lucy when he was young as well lol i sometimes wonder if thats why he named our daughter Lucy.
