Any Home Bakers Here?

Forgot, this isn't baking related, but I have a girl that sort of sprained her foot (jumping off the roost I suspect). I put in her "jail" in the run (dog kennel) so she stays a bit less active. Everybody else mills around her and talks to her. She sits in jail and watches everyone - she wants out. I usually put her in, in the morning then let her out to lay her egg, then afternoon she goes back in for a couple of hours (I think she will be paroled in a day or two). Anyway...I let her out, now all the other 6 are inside her jail

they can't wait for her to get out just in case she spilled some crumbles or forgot a piece of sunflower seed. Its hilarious to see a large BO cockerel and 5 hens crammed into a kennel scratching to their hearts content

Even though it's a baking thread, chickens are allowed this is BackYard Chickens.

Most folks think chickens don't have emotion, but IMO they really do...especially jealousy and greed... they think there is something really great in the kennel and they are missing out

Didn't bake anything new - but when I baked the pound cake, put 1/2 in the freezer - pulled it out to thaw today. Tried another batch of blueberry sauce with 1/2 sugar ---- not sure it will be quite as tasty as the high sugar batch, but hope so.

is anyone still baking?

Two weeks ago DH found out he got a job in Wyoming. We put our house on the market and now have a contract on an offer. He left yesterday with a rental truck full of our house stuff while I finish packing the house. For anyone thinking they might like to pack up their entire house and move in 2 weeks...I don't recommend it, lol. It's been 100% crazy here.

My son is coming from out of state to help me in about a week and he does love chocolate chip cookies, so maybe I'll be able to slow down enough to do something in the kitchen other than grab a quick snack.

Hope you do take a little time out to bake those cookies - you have been working so, so hard, and a break is due.

Two weeks, "a piece of cake" for you gal, I have seen what you can accomplish and know you will get it done on time with your son's help.

Update on the low sugar bb sauce - it was so much better, more blueberry flavor - But do this only if you have really good, sweet enough blueberries.

I never want to move again. For our last move we only moved around 100 miles away not to another state. I am a former realtor and put a sign in front of our house and within a week we sold it. We had already bought another place. We too had to do a quick move so we put a large container on the new property and began packing and just carting the stuff to the container. We were packing so fast and I wanted to sort through stuff but we decided to just get it moved and sort it out at the new place. Many years later there is still stuff I haven't gone through. Hubby was retired but I was working and was able to transfer at work to a place at the new location. Good luck with your move and have a few cookies.
