Any Home Bakers Here?

Made a cheesecake for my mom's birthday. My niece got married on Saturday so my sistes from out of state were in town. On Sunday, our family got together at the cabin and kinda made it a surprise birthday party for my Mom. One of my sisters said she would bring a cheesecake she had in her freezer, so I offered to make another cheesecake. Sis didn't bother to tell me she decided not to bring it. AND my oldest sister invited my cousins to join us. Um, a single cheesecake will not feed 15 people.
DH was in the middle of installing a new back-door and had the siding pulled off the house. Rain was in the forecast, so we had to leave early to finish the job.
I was told everyone got a piece of cheesecake, but my Mom said to me on Monday that she wanted a bigger piece but they had to make sure everyone got a piece so they cut the pieces small.
I am making another cheesecake since DH and I didn't get any. I have some daylilies that I need to move out of the dog yard (they are killing them). So I will pot them up and take Mom a 1/2 of a cheesecake and some flowers for a late birthday present.

What a sweet daughter! I've never frozen a cheesecake.

As I mentioned the first one turned out very rich so I modified it to my liking.

Melt together:
1 cup and then some heavy cream

1 cup chocolate (I used dark)

1/3 cup butter

1/2 cup or so of sugar

Temper in 2 egg yolks

Continue to cook on medium until thickened

Once thickened put in ice bath and chill for 20 minutes stirring every 5-10 minutes. (This is what the recipe says but I have a feeling that the fridge would work too)

After that it didn't seem cold enough so I popped it in the fridge while I rolled out my chilled pie crust and blind baked it.

When the chocolate mixture was chilled I whipped it up with my stand mixer until it was light and fluffy.

Transfer the filling to your cooled pie crust and chill until serving.

Garnish with whipped cream and chocolate curls.

That looks amazing (and wonderful)!

Fresh picked blackberry pie with ice cream and whipped cream :D

I did pick some blackberries on Monday, but not enough for a pie. :(
I put them in the freezer until I can pick some more. Hopefully this weekend.

I will have to try the French silk pie recipe that was posted. DH has a friend that won't eat my French silk pie because it has raw eggs. It looks like that recipe cooks the eggs.
