HELP...I have a Rusty Vingage Universal Bread Bucket. I would like to CLEAN it (may not be safe). Does anyone know what I am talking about? I am scrubbing it with SOS pads. Googled it: one says use fine sandpaper.
It is a NEAT bucket, large, has a turn handle to knead and a clamp to clamp on a chair while kneading. HELP...how to clean? Aria

Like this? Not mine, had to do search :)

If just outside, you can use SOS, Brillo. Or maybe sandblast?
I've never tried to clean galvanized steel.
Is the inside in good condition?

rJohns39...Thanks I Googled: and got this too....sprinkle with
baking soda and let sit 1 hour then scrub with Baking Soda. I will
need to go out and get the sandpaper and try that too.

I had it clean and shining and put it in the cellar...YEARS AGO. Stopped making bread. NOW...back to bread making and checkout
my Antique Universal Bread Bucket...you got it...it is dirty, rusty and I can "kick" myself real hard...for leaving it in the basement.
Now I am working on getting it cleaned.

My husband: said you need to find a Co. that does that. I think I can do it. Aria

I just restored a set of stainless steel cookware, but burnt the first thing I tried to fry, so cleaned it up again and gave those away :idunno.

Good luck with the project, do wear gloves to protect your hands.

There's loads of info on stainless steel but scant on galvanized.

Sunflour and, rJohns39...THANKS for your info. I am wearing rubber gloves and am working on it. Doing the baking soda for 1 hour, then
SOS pad and will do the sandpaper (when I purchase it)...I did do
SOS earlier (before checking Google)...looks much better already.
Will keep you posted. Aria

I got a loaf of bread done in the brotform and a rum cake baked. I'll share a couple of pictures tomorrow (the cake has to stay in the bundt pan overnight to soak up the glaze...hope I can get it out!).
