Any Home Bakers Here?

Probably some people who do NOT make their own bread...cannot
understand HOW excited it is to WAIT for these Bread results.
rjonns, thanks for sharing. Regards, Aria
I was really worried a few hours ago, because it wasn't looking and feeling like I expected. But then it doubled in size within an hour or so and then settled down, but continued to rise ever so slowly until I took it out. When it came out it felt and looked like it should, AND I had a terrible time getting it cleaned off my hands :celebrate

Been there lots of time with bread dough. I have been shopping in a store and felt something odd on the back of my hand... and realized it was bread dough!

I get why folks who don't do what we do think we're strange... We like hanging around chickens and get happy when dough sticks to our hands. But I still they are the strange ones cause they don't appreciate what we do.:old

Absolutely!

As a Country we are becoming disconnected from our food.

My sourdough starter has been living in my fridge since 1985. It is like a member of the family! I love working with it, feeding and baking with it!

I might need therapy....;)

Another month and I'll have to start using the wood stove. Then I can make a starter. Why didn't I get to know you folks back in July?!?:barnie

I mail starts--new starters can take 6 months or so to have enough punch to raise bread without yeast. The starter I send out is ready in a week. It is dried starter that you re hydrate.
Send a message with your address and I will get a start out to you

The Jeff Hertberg and Zoe Francois Artisan Bread version is posted on King Arthur Flour
and I will quote: "Want to try this with whole wheat flour? You can absolutely make up to half of the total flour whole wheat. And additional 2 teaspoons water per cup of whole wheat flour to prevent the dough from being too dry.'

rjohns,Ron....you guys are on the money. YES. Waiting to view the finished product.

That's one of the recipes in my class that I haven't finished yet. Got 3/4s through it when I bought the house in TN. Life has been pretty crazy every since. DW and I are going to work on some holiday jars tonight for her co-workers. She's always been the baker and I think she likes that I've gotten into it lately.
