Any Home Bakers Here?

:goodpost:I have said this on several occasions.
Cooking skills are passed down from generation to generation. The last generations flood the lobby's and Foyer's in local Restaurants, waiting for a table to become available.
Prior generations parents taught basic LIFE SKILLS such as cooking/baking/sewing. My mom cooked with me, her mom cooked with her, my Grandmother's mom cooked with her..............
Most of our friends teach their kids how to use a debit card at a restaurant now.
My close friend is one of these. I love her to death. She can't cook at all, or claims she has no time to. But she has plenty of time for facebook, netflix and being a text-a-holic. She is just spoiled by not having the burden of having to cook to survive. Her hubby makes an awesome salary. Eat out or take out, every night.
When Hurricane Irma whacked us, our town was shut down for a couple days. My friend had a panic attack because they couldn't go out to a restaurant for basic meals. My Hubby BBQ-ed them burgers and such for a couple days because we felt sorry for their 3 kids.
If you have an hour to kill waiting in the front lobby of olive garden waiting to be sat, that is plenty of time that could have been spent making supper for your family, proudly..
Buy a BBQ Grille for heaven's sake..

I've known several people like your friend Connie...people that could cook if they wanted to (or wanted to learn). I think their kids miss out on the family dinner table and learning how to do for themselves.

When I was growing up, Mom & Dad took us out to eat for special occasions. It seems strange to me now to see kid and babies trundled off to restaurants or fast food places for every meal.

The Reason my Mom wanted to make sure her Sons could cook is a similar story. An Uncle of mine was on his own for several weeks when his Mom went on a trip. All he knew how to cook was eggs. This was in the 1960s before there was a fast food place on every corner. He wound up with an ulcer.

Mom made sure we never had that problem!

My chitin's are in their twenties now. But the same here. We went out occasionally. "Supper was Family time @ home". Dinner was abroad.
During "Supper", we talked. How was school today? Is this? What's that?. NO CELL PHONES/TV. Family talking only.
Families that supper together, stay together.

We rarely ate out when I was a kid, and now Hubs & I very seldom eat out, either. It's much cheaper eating at home, and you also know that your food is being stored properly and not being handled by someone who is sick or hasn't properly washed their hands, etc.
Ever watch "Kitchen Nightmares"? The horrible condition of some of those restaurant kitchens is enough to make you want to eat at home every day!
