Hello,

Baking pumpkin pie today. Drained all the fat off the goose yesterday, and I am going to cook it tomorrow. There was a LOT of fat drained from it! The water was clear when I started, when I was done, it was very cloudy and full of goose fat.

Had to skip the deep fried turkey. We decided not to do it. Goose, prime rib, and a ham will do.

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. I am excited.

Jared
It sounds like a fantastic Dinner!

I will be baking a chocolate pecan pie today

That sounds delicious!

Thanks. This guy was two when he went to the freezer. I'm going to be crazy and give Julia child's deconstructed turkey a try as he won't fit in anything I have whole. Besides I think braising the leg quarters will give us more tender meat.

Hope it turns out well for you Bob (don't think you can go wrong with Julia on your side). I remember reading a post maybe last year, about someone that was trying to cook a 30-lb turkey they'd raised. Some funny posts on that one, poor turkey went through a lot before it could fit in the oven

Decided to do green beans with Ham also

Sounds good Penny!

I took my mother a 34.5 lb. dressed weight tom to cook. She did not have a pan big enough to hold it so she put it on one of her big trays she used for baking buns. She tented the whole thing with aluminum foil. It was the best turkey we ever had. A low to mid 20 lb. turkey from the store would usually still be left overs for close to ten days. That turkey was completely gone in 3 days.

That is a big turkey!

My adventures this evening... Snickerdoodles and peanut butter cookies. I put together a cookie tray take tomorrow too with some chocolate chip from the freezer that I made the other day. I also got the green bean casserole all mixed up and ready to go. I'll just throw that in the oven the morning.
