Any Home Bakers Here?

I have never made Chicken Pot Pie, only eaten the little frozen Swanson ones from the freezer section of the grocery store. Does homemade chicken pot pie have a bottom crust or only a top crust?

You can do it either way, just make it to your preference!

For Chicken pot pie

I use a 9x13 baking pan and put a crust on the bottom and the top. I use thickened left over chicken soup. The soup is made from home made broth too.

It is always a big hit at the house!

wyoDreamer, My Recipe has a top crust only. That is perfect. Like
more veggies and gravy....less crust. Aria

I always preferred filling it with beef stew.

Chicken Pot Pie
Sauce: 1 cup chicken stock
1 cup milk
1/2 cup flour...mix set aside
Filling: Hot pan
2 tsp EVOO l large diced onion
1 cup mixed veggies (I use frozen)
2 chopped celery stalks
stir in Fry pan....add sauce salt & pepper(Sauce & Filling in Pie Plate)
CRUST: 1 2/3 cup flour 1/4 tsp salt
1/3 cup oil 1/3 cup milk...stir in bowl
Roll out between two sheets of wax paper...floured
Place filling in large pie plate...rolled dough on top
slits in top and egg wash....tuck dough all around
Place filled pie plate on a large cookie sheet ( keeps things from
spilling)....mine did not. But better safe.
bake 400 degree oven 25 minutes....let sit 15 minutes before cutting in wedges. Makes 6 wedges. Enjoy.....Aria
